Kingsman bio-tracking gel and the sim card apocalypse

Kingsman is a action comedy about British spies of a agency called Kingsman. The plot is basically Richmond valentine wants to cull the global population using cell phone waves to incite global violence. To get it out of the way they could have absolutely used radio jammers to negate the signal and prevent the culling. However, it's movie, so there's no reason to dive in deep and analyze every little thing.

So lets dive in deep on the bio tracking gel mentioned in one scene and how it could possibly be done and what are its limitations. Mr Valentine at one point gives Harry "Galahad" some wine spiked with a gel containing Nanobots for tracking his location for 24 hours. After some basic Googling I have discovered that is very possible and the movie even played down the actual capabilities of such technology. There are multiple types of Nanobots out there such as: Biochip, Nubots, Surface-bound systems, Positional nanoassembly, Biohybrids, Bacteria-based, and Virus-based. There are others I am sure but these were the most commonly listed varieties. These bots can actually in some cases last in your body for years or even decades potentially. This dependent on multiple factors material, the immune response and location. These devices can even send radio, microwave and millimeter Waves outside of the body up to 2 meters approximately. "On October 31, 2007, a team of researchers under Alex Zettl at the University of California, Berkeley created one of the first nanoradios. Their experiment consisted of placing a multilayered nanotube placed on a silicon electrode and connecting it to a counter electrode through a wire and a DC battery. Both the electrode and nanotube were also put in a vacuum of about 10−7 Torr. They then placed the apparatus into a high-resolution transmission electron microscope to document the movement of the nanotube. They observed the nanoradio vibrating and transmitted a song called "Layla" by Eric Clapton. After some minor adjustments, the team was able to transmit and receive signals from a couple meters across the laboratory; however, the initial audio receptions from the radio were scratchy which Zettl believed was due to the lack of a better vacuum." This technology could theoretically be use to track Galahad for years not just 24 hours. There are some basic counter measures that he could have deployed to avoid this tracking like a radio jammer, ceramics, and metal. However, he was unaware of the bio-tracker. The future of this technology is both fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. This technology can be used potentially for microsurgery, monitoring the patient's blood, DNA repair and many more things.

When I first started this article I was trying to figure out how likely it would be for the Nanobots to be able to last 24 hours. Very quickly it became clear they can easily last much longer. Especially non-organic varieties and the future of this technology includes self replicating varieties as well. I am going to do more dives into this type of stuff in movies to see if what they are talking about is in the realm of reality or just plain fiction.

With gratitude and love,
