Spiritual Warfare
Spiritual Warfare
I am using the term warfare here kinda loosely, but it is the better word for what I am talking about today. Like John Prine said "Jesus don't like killing no matter what the reason." There has been a war since the beginning of creation on one side God and the holy forces on the other side the adversary and the unholy forces. This is a war that takes place across multiple dimensions and beyond any concept of reality as we could understand it. If you are a Christian you believe this and even understand it when you read the bible. Jesus laid out the narrow way for us to get to God. This is the only true path to God.
So how do you as a Christian wage spiritual warfare? It's just loving your neighbor and turning the other cheek. People cannot outsmart the adversary on our own, this is a enemy beyond human comprehension. There is no strategy, tactic or illusion you can conceive of that a being of such power and malice hasn't already done innumerable times. The song "The Devil Went Down To Georgia by Charlie Daniels is a perfect example of the grand illusion of defeating the adversary on your own. The young man in that song didn't beat the devil he played right into his trap and got him self a evil golden fiddle from the devils own hand. The worst part of it, is that he walks away thinking he defeated the devil. To beat the devil you do not play his games you turn the other cheek. I think of Jesus and the Fig tree in this example. Jesus said “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” Do not take these false gifts or anything from the adversary, anything you receive from it can and will be turned against you. Jesus later in that same section goes on to say. “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[d] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sin."
I see this as pray everlasting to the Lord God, look at the ways of the Lord and Jesus. Do not hold malice in your heart towards the adversary even if they despicable. They are fallen beings who have forsaken the ways of the Lord. Do not let them drag you down to their damnation with them. Be of service to your fellow person walk with a heart filled with love not plans and devices. The Lord has already laid out the path before you, we all will wander from this path every day. However, the grace of the Lord shows that it's always there right next to you. You can never wander too far from that path not because of your own choices but because of the everlasting love of God.
God bless, with gratitude and love,
